Like A Girl: Dare To Dream presents
Founder & President, Pet Helpers
Carol Linville is the founder and president of Pet Helpers, a no-kill animal shelter. When she started Pet Helpers in 1978, she was discouraged by the unusually high euthanasia rate and inhumane treatment of companion animals. She refused to accept the status quo and has dedicated her life to changing the model for rescuing pets and ending euthanasia for adoptable animals.
Carol's passion and hard work led to a 14,000 square foot, state-of-the-art adoption shelter and spay and neuter clinic. She has initiated changes to local and state animal welfare laws, pursues justice for animal cruelty, and has made a difference in the lives of thousands of pets and their people through Pet Helper's food bank, services for rescue groups, care for feral cat colonies, and low-cost vaccine clinics.
She is the founder of "Unchain Charleston," a free service that builds fences to free dogs who live on chains. Carol has received many honors and awards for her work and still hopes for the day when all shelter cages will be empty because the animals are in loving homes.
