This is the second large piece (36x60") of my Figurative new phase. It started out from a series of shower studies that compelled me to work on a larger version. At first, I was just trying to work with some contrast of a very classic female body against a strong modern background. The Phoenix, originally a tattoo on the back of the model (myself) was transferred onto the background and was at first intended as a pattern. As usual, my art seems to have a life of its own and before I knew it, the wings developed a much deeper depth and turned this into an almost surrealistic piece.
