I remember loving art since my first set of crayons. I would get in trouble for sketching on the walls, but I simply couldn’t help myself. I have always felt this urge to paint and to express my emotions and ideas through art.
At first I never really considered art as a career so I went to school for advertising. After moving to New York, I gave up my career as an Art Director and went back to school at the Art Students League.
I was young and ambitious and was driven by perfection and fame. I wanted to be known to the world and for my art to be part of history. Life had other plans for me though, and after a series of unfortunate events I ended up moving back to Brazil.
I felt lost and my spirit felt broken. In an effort to rediscover myself and find meaning I began meditation classes. I was taken by surprise by an unusual invitation from my Lama (teacher) to be a resident at the Buddhist Temple. I felt that I needed to challenge myself so I went out of my comfort zone and moved in. There I was taught the difficult lesson of putting myself in the last seat. I worked as the direct assistant to the Tibetan artist in charge of the temple art. In my time there, I learned that we are called to serve others and master our egos. I fully immersed myself in this way of life and thinking and have been changed ever since.
After leaving the Temple, I continued to move around and eventually ended up in Charleston, South Carolina married to an American man, Jay, my step-daughter, Bella, and my five-year-old son, Caue. My journey from a presumptuous and self-righteous girl to a humble, mature woman has been tumultuous and tiring but I don’t regret any of it. It has brought me to where I am today.
Today, my art reflects my mission to bring JOY to people. I love to capture important moments by painting; whether I’m working on an exclusive commissioned piece or commemorating a strong woman on canvas. Rather than focusing only on fame, I pay homage to my family, friends & clients by painting and creating art that is impactful and touches the lives of those around me.
